Planting

We have a vast knowledge of plants and have worked with many leading garden designers to create beautiful garden spaces. Our expertise extends beyond just planting; we understand the relationships between different species and their habitats. We offer tailored advice on plants, their care, and diseases that can affect them, ensuring your garden thrives and flourishes year-round.

Lawn care

Stef’s lawn care offers bespoke treatment plans over 12 months to keep your lawn healthy. Lawns, just like all other parts of the garden require attention to keep them looking great. We offer different treatment plans depending on budget and requirements. Typically we suggest a treatment plan of 5 treatments per year to maintain and improve the health of a lawn. All of our plans include at least one organic treatment to aid soil life. We also offer fully organic treatment plan and a plan where we visit once a month, where we are able to give the lawn exactly what it needs and treat to the highest of standards.

Aeration is the single most important task that improves the health of a lawn. Thousands of holes are punched into a lawn to increase airflow, access to water and to relieve compaction. This crucial step not only helps in rejuvenating the soil but also supports the growth of a lush and vibrant grass canopy. It’s also a good time to incorporate a high quality grass seed to improve the overall aesthetics and resilience of your lawn. Utilizing a mixture of seed can promote a diverse ecosystem that adapts more effectively to varying weather conditions. There are a few different types of aeration methods available—such as core aeration and spike aeration—and the correct one will be advised depending on the specific situation, soil type, and level of lawn wear. Consulting with a lawn care professional can provide further insights into which method would yield the best results for your unique landscape needs.

Scarification is the mechanical removal of dead material in your lawn and plays a critical element in lawn health. This process not only helps to eliminate thatch, which can suffocate your grass and inhibit root growth, but also promotes better air circulation and water absorption. For optimal results, a maintenance scarification is recommended to be carried out once a year, ideally in the spring or early autumn, to keep the lawn in top shape. A heavy scarification may be necessary to renovate your lawn if it has suffered from neglect or adverse weather conditions. Additionally, incorporating overseeding after scarification can enhance the lawn's resilience, ensuring a lush, vibrant green landscape that can withstand varying climates and resist pests and diseases. By regularly scarifying your lawn, you will ultimately invest in its long-term health and aesthetics, ensuring it remains an inviting space for family and friends.

Leatherjacket and Chafer grub control.

These insects can significantly damage your lawn by feeding on the roots, leading to unsightly brown patches and weakened turf.

These insects often cause havoc among lawns where they chew the roots. If left unchecked, they can create extensive damage in a short time. Thankfully, we now have specific insecticides available for the control of these pests, ensuring that your lawn remains lush and green throughout the growing season.

Top dressing and overseeding

When we renovate lawns we typically add seed and a high quality top dressing to aid seed germination. This process not only enhances the appearance of the lawn but also fosters a more robust and healthy growth environment for the grass. Over time, the improved soil structure promotes better moisture retention and nutrient availability, which are essential for thriving grass plants.

Mulching

We are big on mulching. This usually involves adding organic matter, well rotted manure, compost tea’s, seaweed, mulches or other granular organic fertilisers. The right one depends on the situation

Weed Control

We offer weed control in lawns, hard surfaces and specialist weed control such as the removal of Japanese knotweed, horsetail and ground elder.
